The all new CCP (Concealed Carry Pistol) in 9mm Luger has an ideal combination of style, ergonomics, size, shape, accuracy, and ability to conceal comfortably. The new Walther SOFTCOIL ™ gas-delayed blowback technology works to make the CCP an excellent concealed carry firearm.
With an overall length of just 6.41 inches, the Walther CCP is a sleek solution to concealed carry protection. The new model’s barrel length is 3.54 inches and its width is only 1.18 inches making it easily carried in a purse or inside-the-pant holster.
This CCP comes in stylish Cerakote® black and provides all the features that have become a signature of Walther’s line of pistols. It has a smooth 5.5 pound trigger pull, interchangeable front sight with white dot, adjustable rear sight, and reversible magazine release for left- or right-handed operation.
This new single-stack semi-automatic has a magazine capacity of 8 rounds. For maximum safety, the CCP comes equipped with a slim manual thumb safety and one internal safety that acts as a firing pin block. As with all Walther firearms, the CCP has an ergonomic grip with a unique non-slip surface.
Other key attributes of the firearm include an easy access slide stop, loaded chamber indicator for added safety, and serrations (front, rear and trigger guard) for additional safety and control of its easily manipulated slide.
The CCP’s SOFTCOIL™ gas-delayed blowback system uses gas pressure from the ignited cartridge by directing it through a small port in the barrel in front of the chamber to slow down and delay the rearward motion of the slide. This is accomplished by means of a piston contained inside of a cylinder located under the barrel that opposes the rearward motion of the slide until the gas pressure has declined after the bullet has left the barrel. This allows the slide to end its rearward motion, opening the breech, and ejecting the empty cartridge case.
Neither this, nor the famous P7, were range guns. You bring along other guns, and let this one cool off. Bring the big hulking steel CZ75 or a Glock, or a PPQ, M&P, Hi Power, or a Sig X6, P210, and a Colt Python to shoot while the CCP cools off. The trigger feels weird when you dryfire it, but when you shoot the gun, it shines. The more we shoot it, the more we love it. Recoil is soft, so this pistol shoots way above its weight class. This is like a PPQ in a smaller package. The slide is easy enough for an arthritic 81 year old lady to operate. It shoots nice enough to allow her to hit the ten ring. This is a great carry gun, especially for women, the elderly, or even me. I like it enough to carry it. The grip feels great, too. Some ammo did give me some problems, but I quit using 115 grain range ammo for 124 and 147 grain, so I was not having that many problems. 147 grain cop ammo worked great, and Blazer 124 FMJ worked about as well as 124 grain white box. The 115 grain white box did not want to feed. Old Fiocchi did give some problems but newer production runs worked just fine.
Shoots nice. Accurate enough. Recoil is nice. But... Disassembly is bizarre, requires a special tool included with the gun and over-engineered. All in all, I would recommend this as a carrying piece.
Unbeleavable ergonomics. Power plus.
I love Walther products and this was a gift.
Pro: Feels awesome and is very accurate.
Con: Very finicky with ammo and you have to contact Walther to figure out what is recommended. Otherwise you will get a lot of FTE and fail to rack the slide.
Also because of the blowback to decrease muzzle flip, the gun gets hot to touch after 50 rounds or so.
Must be cleaned after shooting to prevent misfeeds. Take down isn't bad once you do it a couple of times.
This would make a good carry but not one you want to take the range all the time. I would recommend a Walther PPS if you want to shoot a lot or in competitions.
Bought the CCP about a month ago. Shipped fast and received in 2 days. I've put about 200 rounds through it and feeds and ejects very well just needs to be properly oiled. The gun is very accurate and mild on the recoil. Only dislike is the trigger is gritty through the pull from the pin on the safety which lifts the disconnector, the bottom of the disconnector is rough on the bottom side. Easy fix. Thanks SOSS for great service and prices.
