This little pistol is simply awesome. I carry it in my pocket daily and usually forget it is there. The laser works every time without fail... My batteries were also DOA but swapped them with the extras that came with it and was good to go. I found batteries super cheap on EBay so I am fully stocked since they tend to drain fairly quickly. The grip is really small as it should be and slender making it hard for me to grasp and pull the trigger without some concerted effort... Added a Hogue slip on grip and problem solved! This thing fits my hand like it was made just for me and is, well, perfect.
Like Richard I got a laser that had a dead set of batteries but the spare set are fine. The laser operates as it should on both modes and the ECR function works perfectly with the supplied pocket holster. Frankly, this is such an excellent deal that a dead set of batteries out of 2 sets does not faze me. At this price for the package, a gen2 LCP and a green Viridian laser, this is a deal that is hard to beat. I also got a free box of .380 ammo as part of a special promotion. I haven't been to the range yet but I am certain that Viridian and Ruger will back their products if there is an unexpected problem. The LCP itself is a well proven platform, many people carry this gun with complete confidence.
Viridian Green Laser is supposed to instantly turn on when removed from its specially designed holster. Mine does not do that. The dealer and Ruger were not any help. Ruger had my gun for weeks and they returned it to me in the same non working condition that I sent it to them. Now Ruger and the dealer tell me that I need to contact Viridian to get a new laser. Viridian does not answer their phone and all the customer service links on their web site are dead. Finally I received a return call from Viridian and I was informed that they can have me send the laser back to them via UPS ground 7-10 days and they will repair NOT replace it 1-2 days and they will return it to me via UPS ground another 7-10 days. That solution is totally unacceptable for a product that did not work out of the box. For that reason I can not recommend Viridian.
Out of the box the laser would not turn on. I emailed Sportsmans but did not hear back for several days. In the meantime I decided to try the second set of included batteries. The laser did turn on with the fresh batteries. Next I followed the manufacturers instructions to zero the laser. I bought a box of target rounds and headed out to the range. I did my best to zero the laser however it is less than 100% accurate which for self defense purposes is unacceptable. Next I left the laser on and inserted it in the holster. Laser turned off as advertised. However when I removed the gun from the holster the laser FAILED to come back on. I repeated this numerous times and EVERY TIME the LASER FAILED.
