The WW-15 Government Rifle is a target & hunting rifle inspired by some early developments of the AR-15 rifle. This Government rifle features a 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium 11595E Steel barrel with Chrome Lining in the Bore and Chamber for long wear and ease of cleaning. Barrels are chambered for 5.56 NATO ammo, and are safe for both .223 and 5.56 NATO.
This rifle is one of the best. Accurate and reliable.
I've always wanted an AR-15 that was as close to an M1-6-A2 service as legally possible and I found it in this rifle. I had been keeping an eye out on this particular model to see if they ever went on sale and when it did I jumped on the purchase.
I really can't wait to zero the rifle in and try different types of ammo in it to see which grain will hold a better shot group. The first time I shot it I only had 55 grain, which is not the best for the rate of twist on this rifle but it worked for the day.
My initial review was that during the first 120 rounds I had some ftfs. I am happy to say that after 400 rounds ftfs have disappeared. Nice rifle with a larger sight radius.
I have five other Windham rifles and all work great, 5 stars! This rifle has had some ftfs on three different mag brands and two types of ammo. The rifle only has about 120 rounds through it, so I am hoping it works itself out in the near future. Seems like the bullet is jamming/sticking on the feed ramp. A good hit on the forward assist and it feeds. We will see.
I was so impressed with my first carbine Windham Weaponry rifle I had to buy another Windham. I tell you what, these boys know how to build a high quality freedom stick. I took it to the range today and put 200 rounds through it. It ran perfectly and is such a soft shooting rifle. I've never owned a rifle that I didn't have to adjust the sights until now. The balance of it with the government profile barrel is amazing. Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore shipped it to me in less than a week. SOSS hooked me up!
In 2011 I purchased a DPMS Oracle because it's all I could find for a decent price. I've always wanted the full rifle length AR, though, but at that point and time all were well over 1k unless you built it yourself, at which time I didn't have enough experience to know how easy that actually is. That being said, when the sale hit for 650 for this, I knew I had to have it even though I sold my WASR 10 to be able to afford it. Pitched it as a trade to the Mrs....who would have otherwise demanded some type of jewelry as a present...so me in my cheap ways were able to sidestep this Haha.
At any rate, shipping was quick and I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the whole firearm. It is definitely worth the full non sale price tag of 1k for sure. I cleaned it and lubed it as you would any other AR and took it to the range. After sight adjustments at 50 yards I was getting decent 2-3 groupings with open sights. At 100 Yards I was getting about 5-7 groupings which isn't too terribly bad in my opinion with open sights. I'm sure others would do better than me, as I'm still working on my form and firing positions. Conditions were 1-5 MPH breeze from behind and the ammo fired was 55 grain Federal Lake City ammo.
I had ordered some 62 grain Lake City from SOSS but due to a mix up it had to be sent back, as it was sent in stipper clip configuration with fewer rounds than what I'd paid for.
I did have some jams from a 20 round steel promag which I tossed and deferred afterwards to use the provided mag as well as some milspec STANAG aluminum mags...all of which had no further jamming issues.
At any rate, this was an exceptional purchase for the price. I must also note that till this point, I've never been able to find an AR with a chrome lined barrel, so that was a big plus for me.
This is my 3rd firearm purchase from SOSS and I will continue to do business with them moving forward.
