Product Description

For decades, Ruger Mini-14® rifles have been the choice for applications ranging from the farm and ranch, to the deep woods, to personal defense. Their short barrels and overall short length make them favorites in any application where reliability, maneuverability and ease of handling are priorities.

The Mini-14 Tactical features a heavy, cold hammer-forged barrel for accuracy, longevity and easy cleaning. Simple, rugged Garand-style action with breechbolt locking system, a fixed-piston gas system and self-cleaning moving gas cylinder comes standard on all Mini-14 rifles, and gives unparalleled reliability under harsh operating conditions.

These rifles are also equipped with an accurate sighting system with ghost ring adjustable rear aperture sight and a protected, non-glare post blade front sight.

(5 out of 5) I really like this Mini
by from Kaufman, TX on

These newer Minis with the thicker barrels are much more accurate than the older pencil-barrel models. This thing shoots rings around my old GB Mini-14 model. I like this gun so much that I decided to put the new Ruger/Samson A-TM folding stock on this instead of the old GB model which I had originally slated for the new stock. 16 barrel on this coupled with the side folder makes for a nice, compact rifle that stores easily in the folded configuration. I also love the fact that you can get a reliable, and viable semi-automatic rifle in stainless steel. Mini-14s are very reliable. Shoots steel case without complaint too. The only negative I have about the newer Minis is that Ruger has really cheaped out on the rear sights on these. Very disappointing for a rifle with an MSRP of over a Grand.....They are a pain to adjust, and the screws that you have to tighten to lock the rear aperture in place oftentimes will loosen-up while shooting. At some point I will replace it with a Tech Sight. But I also want to give kudos to Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore. As usual, free shipping, and orders always arrive quickly to my transfer FFL. Hard to beat their prices on most stuff.

I love this rifle. Perfect size. Easy to operate. The only bad thing I can think of, is the factory Ruger magazines cost an arm and a leg. I never tried any aftermarket magazines based on poor online reviews, which all state feeding problems.

(5 out of 5) Ruger Mini 14 5.56 NATO/.223

Beautiful rifle. Shipping was to my FFL in two days. Bought this on the Ruger Flash Sale and saved even more. Model 5819 is the stainless all weather model. Rifle came with scope rings, 2 magazines not clips!, nylon shoulder sling and a Ruger owners manual.
