This has been my EDC for 4 years now. Put thousands of round through it with no issues. The M&P platform is reliable and easy to maintain. Chose this over a Shield because I don't like the thin grips on a single stack. Not a huge fan of the 2.0 stippling, it's a bit aggressive for me.
If you only have a budget for 1 gun, this is the one. Small and light enough for every day carry. Big enough to be a duty gun if you use the full size 17 round Magazines with the extension sleeve. I have taken this through defensive pistol courses and IDPA competitions and never had a malfunction. Brass, aluminum, steel. What ever casing I have fed it, this gun eats it all.
After you replace the trigger group with the Apex it is even better. Guess that is why they have came out with the 2.0 and a better trigger in them. Other than that, it groups off hand less than 3 at 30 yards. I shoot it in IDPA in CCP and it's a great little gun.
The M&P compact is an amazing weapon. The powerful 9mm holds 12 rounds and comes with 2 magazines. I trust my life with this gun. It eats each and every type of ammo I have thrown at it. This is my second purchase of this gun, and I own both the full size and shield as well. The compacts larger capacity and small size make this my everyday carry!
I knew there was something wrong with the trigger when I picked this up. But S&W has great customer service so I took it home anyway. Not sure how this slipped through the QC checks.... Recently purchased the M&P 9c for my wife for her every day carry weapon. After shooting her's a few times, I decided on getting this M&P 9c for me for my EDC weapon. You can also purchase this pistol with an external safety and a magazine safety, we went with the one without both of these options. Pistol has a very great feel to it with the ergonomic designs and fits very comfortable in our hands. The recoil is very manageable and instantly back on target for the next follow up shots. Pistol comes with 2 magazines, but will also fit other mags like the 17 or 32 round mags. Already put a couple hundred rounds thru the weapon with zero problems. Try this weapon out, you will not be disappointed with the Smith & Wesson M&P 9c.
