Leupold invented the Duplex Reticle in 1962. Defined by it's heavy posts, which stand out against cover and in twilight conditions, pointing boldly to the intersection. Centering is a snap. The thin crosshairs obscure little. VX-3 models use the Duplex reticle for range estimating as well. If you bracket a deer, you can read the range on the power selector ring.

The price was right and shipping on the faster side, so got to love that. Scope arrived and I was surprised the box was not sealed in plastic This is right around my the 10th Leupold scope I've purchased over the years, and that's a first. The other thing was a hard shiny ring of adhesive encircling the logo opposite the windage knob side of the scope. I've never had a new scope from Leupold ever less than a perfect finish from the factory. Some rubbing alcohol helped, but took light effort with OOOO steel wool to totally remove it. Between that and the non-sealed plastic, almost makes one wonder if it wasn't a demo or something. But with Leupolds warranty I know they stand behind it if there's ever a problem. Great glass for the money!!!
