I thought my Savage 110 LA 30-06 liked Federal fusion ammunition and had decent groupings for hunting ammo, but last year I heard of Hornady Eld-X rounds and gave them a try. The first 5 rounds of Hornady ELD-X that I shot at 100 yards gave me almost a sub moa grouping, from hunting ammunition ! The real test of the Hornady ELD-X 30-06 rd happened on one of my 2020 Michigan deer hunting season. I had a doe tag to fill and I spotted a big doe running across a open field at 110 yards, I pulled the trigger, watched her jump straight up, then stumbled 6 feet and crumbled down. I will be hunting with Hornady ELD-X ammunition from now on.
I used this ammunition last year in South Africa. It was very effective on the plains animals zebra, wildebeasts, kudu, waterbuck, etc.. The PH prof. guide even commented on its effectiveness. My old Browning 30.06 with a 22 inch barrel shot 1 inch groups with an average speed of 2650 ft per second.
