This Defender is THE Defender. It can handle buckshot or rifled slugs efficiently through the fully chrome plated, 18” fixed cylinder choked barrel (no constriction) for wide patterning. This open choke is also very accurate when using Foster-type slugs. It also has non-glare metal surfaces with a tough composite stock and forearm. Additional features include a five-shot magazine (plus one in the chamber), and a positive, deeply grooved forearm for control and stability. Ordered late at night on the 18th, and FedEx delivered to my FFL early on the 24th! Merry Christmas Hohoho!! Fantastic service from SOSS during the holiday rush. I even canceled an order because I wanted to add a sling. Although the sling didn’t arrive with the firearm at the FFL, after reaching out and calling SOSS, they’re sending another one to me! I’ve been a longtime customer for a reason, SOSS is THE best! With the rebate from Winchester, you can’t go wrong buying an SXP Defender. I was surprised by the kick it had! Glad I chose the 20 GA for this ol’ boy! lol
Good value for price. Lightweight. Appears to have a nice long forcing cone. Pattern's fine with 2 or 3 buck. However, length of pull is 14 inches. Way too long for defensive applications. I’m 5’11”. Only “fix” was to replace rear stock with OEM wooden stock from Numrich ($52) that was a good inch shorter. Just an inch less, but greatly improved mounting and handling.
