Designed with the latest U.S. Military standards in mind, the Ruger American Pistol is built to perform in the harshest conditions. A true American innovation, this pistol was developed through a rigorous “Voice of the Customer” process – where numerous law enforcement and military trainers, firearms experts, distributors and retailers provided input, feedback and testing in the determination of the form, function and features of this firearm. The resultant new pistol is a revolutionary platform for Ruger, one that utilizes the combination of a recoil-reducing barrel cam (which is designed to better spread recoil energy over time) with a low mass slide, low center of gravity and a low bore axis to provide an unparalleled shooting experience.
This is a late review however Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore deserve recognition for being one of the best places to purchase any of your outdoor needs. The Ruger I had purchased through them has performed flawlessly and is my favorite firearm I own. If you're thinking about your next purchase do yourself a favor and go through these guys
Once again SOSS exceeded expectations with a great product at a great price, and fast delivery to my FFL. The Ruger American 45 Full performed flawlessly through the first 100 rounds. The recoil very manageable and I was very impressed with the accuracy out of the box. I highly recommend this 45 and SOSS.
I purchased the full sized .45 with no thumb safety, and could not be happier. Accurate, easy to maintain and very durable. Whether it’s your first pistol or 50th, you’ll be very happy.
The gun performs flawlessly and is very easy to shoot and clean. Excellent carry gun.
First the trigger is Very Good. Takedown is easy. Slide is easy to operate. Decent ergonomics. But... Out of the box the gun would only feed RN FMJ. Any other bullet style would jam. The gun is not accurate either. I really wanted to like this some good features but it's been just frustration. I probably have a rare lemon, but after all the introductory hype you would think some effort would be expended to see that the product manufacturing process matched the development. This is the 5th Ruger handgun I have bought. There wont be a sixth. I am through with Ruger.
