The XD(M) 3.8” Compact Essentials Package is the smallest of the XD(M)® line, but it’s by no means the least. It boasts the same superior ergonomics, reliable performance, and features that make larger XD(M)®’s easy and intuitive to use in a slightly abbreviated package. And you’ll be amazed at how fun it is to shoot.
The XD(M) 3.8” Compact .45ACP has a 3.8 inch barrel mated with a shortened compact frame. When combined with the versatility of XD(M) Gear X-Tension magazines, the XD(M) 3.8” Compact .45 is ready for daily carry or a day on the range. Put in an X-Tension magazine, and you have a 13 round full-sized .45ACP pistol. Use the flush-fitting 9 round magazine, and you have a Compact.
Like all XD(M)’s, the XD(M) 3.8” Compact comes with three interchangeable backstraps, dovetail sights, mega-lock frame texturing, an ambidextrous magazine release, a multi-position frame rail, and a match grade barrel. You’ll also find all the safety features that make the XD(M) a safe pistol in responsible hands.
Your total XD(M) experience starts the day you open your case. In fact, it starts with your case. The rugged Multi-Use Carrying Case is as durable as the XD(M) it houses and can be re-tasked to protect any number of items from a laptop to multiple XD(M) pistols.

- (M)ould-Tru Backstraps: With the interchangeable backstraps, Springfield has added another level of comfort. Personalize your grip by choosing one of three backstraps for a more custom fit.
- (M)ulti-Adjust Rail System™: A triple-position Picatinny rail readily accepts lights, lasers or other accessories. More importantly, it allows them to be adjusted to the shooter’s hand position.
- (M)elonite®: Traditional black oxide finishes are a few millionths of an inch thick and offer no corrosion resistance. The rugged Melonite® finish on the XD(M)® is a salt bath nitriding process that leaves a thick, corrosion-resistant, hard surface.

Bought the Springfield XDM 45ACP 3.8 Compact Black Essentials Package from Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore on December 2018, best price, excellent store, firearm worked flawlessly, thank you.
After reading and watching a lot of videos, reading numerous reviews, and handling the gun a little at my local sporting goods store, I decided to go ahead and purchase the XDM .45. I was just slightly nervous about purchasing the gun without ever having fired one, but the price and Springfield promo were just too good to pass up.
Well, I just finished shooting it for the first time. All I can say is WOW. This gun is so sweet and so much fun to shoot. Better yet, it's dead accurate...first shot from 5 yards was dead center bulls eye. I wanted my first shots to be with the flush mount mag to see how it would perform in compact mode, since that's how I plan to carry this weapon. It did not disappoint in the least. I thought it was easy to hold-n-handle and the barrel flip was less than I expected. It's a little heavy, but not so heavy that its a burden to manage.
After emptying the flush mount magazine, I popped in the mag extension. It's such a cool bonus mag and if you have larger hands it will give you a full size .45 feel, along with the higher capacity, which is nice when doing target shooting.
I can't rave enough about this gun. Its just awesome. I loved it from the first trigger pull. The only downside I can think of is that it actually ruined the fun of shooting my other guns. I literally didnt want to shoot anything else. If you are on the fence pull the trigger on it, pun intended, and get it, because you won't be disappointed.
I bought a 9mm 2 years ago, and over 4000 rounds later I bought the .45 and couldn't be happier. Trust this company. Other than the issue with the XDS hangup, I haven't seen or heard of a bad Springfield.
