(5 out of 5) FINE DETAIL CRIMPING
by from Texas, TX on

My old Piggyback II loader did not like my Lee dies. Had a set of Hornady in 10mm which it liked, so here we are. These are much more detailed than my old 1993 Hornady dies, but no less solidly built. The Taper Crimp Die Set has a very detailed crimp die, which allows much finer adjustment. I think this is nice for the tiny 9. You can get things just right and then finish it out with a Lee Factory Crimp Die. I really think the Lee FCD is a must-have for all pistol calibers. I don't use a cartridge checker any longer, as the combo of a good seat die and the Lee FCD means all is 100% reliable. Going to sell my two 10 & 9 Lee Die Sets, minus the FCDs. They do the job, but are very crude in comparison. Overall, I think my Redding rifle dies do the best, but they are $$$. 2nd is the Hornady, and 3rd I'd say are the RCBS, which I have in .22-250 & .45 ACP. Dillon are not horrid, but way overpriced. This is, of course, just my opinion. Loading since 1968 at 8 y/o. I'm sure many have differing experience.
