Great little rifle. Very similar to a standard AR/M4 in function and takedown. The Magpul fde furniture looks great as well. Runs great for me usimg CCI Mini-Mags and American Eagle high velocity ammo, which is all I have tried thus far. Be sure to clean amd oil it every so often as .22LR or any rimfire is a very dirty round and neglect can cause an array of malfunctions. My only negative points, and the reason I didnt give this 5 stars is because as others mentioned of the grip not fitting right and leaving a gap that doesnt quite look right. My particular grip is also a little loose and is starting to rattle a little. I need to find a long enough hex key to fit down the handle and see if maybe I can tighten it down. My main issue however, is not the gap by the handle. My main issue is that this rifle is the MOE version, yet it does not have a QD mount anywhere to be found by the grip, or the fake buffer tube. It has no end plate on the tube so no after market QD end plate adapters or anything of the like will work. The regular non-sport 15-22 MOE had this QD hole built in, not sure why it didn't make it to this MOE sport version, but pretty disappointing that it didn't. It does have a QD hole in the Magpul stock, but it feels awkward hanging down so much farther on a single point sling. It also makes shouldering the rifle a tiny bit harder, at least IMHO, then a traditional end plate buffer tube QD mount. All in all I am enjoying this rifle very much, and I have no substantial regrets with this purchase. Would totally recommend this rifle.
I just got my gun and upon inspection, It was very disappointing to see the huge gap and terrible look of the Magpul pistol grip and was very shocked that S&W quality control would ship this. The grip looks that does not belong on this gun. I own many Magpul products and very happy with them but sadly, I can't say that with this rifle and grip combo.
I just got the gun and I have not shot it yet, but I am sure it will perform well, My only complaint as of now is the gap behind the Magpul Pistol grip that came on the gun. It looks terrible and it feels cheap. I am not sure why S&W would accept that flaw and ship them like that. The quality control department must have dropped the ball on this, not happy at all with the look .I spent extra for the Magpul furniture on this gun and I was disappointed. Will update the performance after few hundred rounds
Sportsman’s gave me the bug. After not purchasing a firearm in 20 years, this is my second purchase in less than a month. I am very impressed with the service I received. Sportsman’s sent the rifle out the day after ordering, unfortunately due to hurricane Irma, FedEx held the gun for over a week, then my FFL dealer was closed due to lack of power, so it took a bit to take possession. Friends laughed when I told them what I ordered. They aren’t laughing anymore. The fit an finish of the S&W 15-22 is incredible. Plus you can’t beat the price of .22lr for making holes In paper. I can shoot all day for what they will spend in a box of ammo. The combination of price, service, ammo has Some of the nay sayers wanting one too.
