(4 out of 5) Great trainer and great plincker
by from Oklahoma City, OK on

I bought this gun from SOS about 4 years ago before the price went nuts with the Biden crises. It is one of several 22 semi autos that I own and shoot suppressed. I am a CCW instructor first licensed in 1996, former cop and retired military law enforcement. From that perspective I love this gun. It is a full size trainer for anyone that carries any semi auto handgun. It is closest to the DA/SA Sigs or similar but useful as a trainer for any student. I do not ever recall and jam or failure. It is not a target gun, but close enough for any other use. I did not give it a 5 because I do not care for the zinc guns, I have 3 of them in various formats, they work great, I just prefer actual steel. LOL If you were without a weapon for defense or perhaps and older person who cannot pull back the slide on a 9mm or cannot handle recoil, you could use this gun for defense. Not my first choice, but if called upon, I could put all 10 rounds out pretty quick in a defense scenario. Also, would make a cool gun to throw in the back pack as a second gun when hiking the back country or as a survival gun. It is accurate enough to harvest small game if need be. My only regret is that I did not buy 2 or 3. Good service and good price by SOS.

(5 out of 5) Firefly and excellent plinker
by from Oklahoma City, OK on

I have had this gun over 3 years now and do not recall a single malfunction. I normally shoot it suppressed but it is an excellent gun to fire without the suppressor on it. For anyone who shoots a DA/SA duty gun, a Sig, Berretta, CZ or any of the more advanced designs this is an excellent trainer. I own a half dozen 22 semi auto pistols and this one is about as accurate as any. I became a CCW instruction certified by the NRA and my state to teach and certify handguns permits. I always recommend a 22 semi as a trainer. This one has been the most economical of any and I have recommended it to many people. There are many on the market now just in recent years, but this is as good as any and has been 100% effective for me, so it gets a 5.

(5 out of 5) Firefly-excellent training tool and value
by from Oklahoma City, OK on

I bought this gun from the Superstore in 2017 and now 4 years later do this review so it covers time after any break in period. I do not ever recall and a jam or failure to feed. It is an excellent training tool for any one that carries a DA/SA handgun. If you carry a Sig or a Berretta 92 or similar handgun you are foolish for not buying one of these which you can train with cheaply. I own 5 semi auto 22 pistols that I shoot both suppressed and not suppressed including the recent Glock 44. This not the most accurate, that would be the longer barrel on the GSG 22. But is is one of the most fun. Fits the hand well and both DA and SA has an excellent trigger pull. Excellent for plinking and general fun shooting. The price makes it a must have for anyone who wants to develop overall shooting skills. I recommend this gun for students, I was a CCW instructor starting in 1996 I have recommended this and the original Sig Mosquito for years which was the moniker under which it was marketed at double the price. These guns have that cheap plastic lightweight feel, the Glock 44 is even worse.

However, they work, they are cheap, and I highly recommend this gun to anyone who can find one. I am both retired military and law enforcement and would never recommend a 22 for defense. However, if a person, like your grandma cannot shoot the big bores and needs a gun to keep on the night stand this one will work. I would not hesitate to confront a prowler with this gun. It holds 10 rounds, use all you need. I found spare mags on ebay at a decent price in 2 packs. Lastly, when I put the suppressor on it changes the point of aim, that happens with other guns as well and common in 22s. If anyone has that issue, it is not the gun nor the suppressor it is just a thing that happens when you change barrel harmonics. My only regret is that I did not buy 5 of them when they were $200 each, as future gifts to kids and grandkids. My 2 cents.

(1 out of 5) wasted money
by from E. Liberty, OH on

I bought 2 and got them yesterday. Dont waste your money. One wont even cycle the next round...single action, sometimes the spent cartridge hangs up sometimes it ejects the spent cartridge PLUS a live round together! The second gun is starting to cycle and I might get 4 or 5 before it misfires or jambs or ejects just like the first gun. Ive tried 2 different brands of ammo and tomorrow will try different oil.

Great price for the Firefly, solid gun. Oh, did I mention the price compared to the SIG Mosquito! This site IS AWESOME!!!!

(5 out of 5) Cost effective weapon.
by from Osceola, WI on

Much fun to shoot and doesn't break the bank doing it. Use 1250 + ammo and you have very little to be concerned about. It shoots great.

(5 out of 5) Amazing Gun!
by from Bethlehem, GA on

SOSS is awesome, and this gun is even better. For half the price of the Sig Mosquito, it's a steal. Shot Aguila 40g Super Velocity and no jams yet. Great buy!!
