(5 out of 5) Great handgun
by from Poplar Grove, IL on

Love this pistol. No jams, no problems at all. It came with a hard case, different grips, and two magazines. A great deal.

(5 out of 5) Awesome reliable pistol
by from mcallen, TX on

Robust ez to shoot pistol. The best improvement on these 2.0 models is the trigger. It is crisp and predictable. I have only about 500 rds through it and it is my favorite 40.

by from Houston, TX on

First of all...Pistols have come a long way. In this price range NO other gun can compare with the S&W MP40 2.0 . Straight out of the box it was an accurate shooter , a very good trigger and the feel and grips are top notch. Me coming from a long list of pistols from Smith and Wesson starting from the 4006, this M&P has to be at the very top of my list. I’ve always been a 40 Smith & Wesson caliber fan but I got to admit that I will be getting the 9 mm and a 45 mm as well to add to my collection.

(5 out of 5) Great crossover
by from Isanti, MN on

Little big for a conceal carry in my opinion but good size for plenty of carry situations. Of your looking for something between a full size and a conceal carry weapon, this I absolutely ideal. The 2.0 trigger pull is noticeably improved over the Last generation. Factory stippling is very aggressive, feels very good in the hand but not against your waist..

(5 out of 5) More than satisfactory
by from Chesapeake, VA on

I am more than satisfied with my purchase. The price was more than reasonable and the pistol was in excellent condition upon receiving. Shipping took exceptionally long but I suppose that can't be helped with all the panic buying that's been going on due to Covid-19.

(5 out of 5) Great Gun and trigger!
by from Oswego, IL on

This is a great 40 cal. Trigger much better than Glock. Contacted Smith&Wesson for some extra parts and customer service was great. Gun has real steel sights. Had to use some sand paper to sand down the grips on the left side because the texture is a little rough against the body but now it's perfect. Comes with 4 backstraps to customize grip.

(5 out of 5) Highly recommend
by from Isanti, MN on

About 500 cheap rounds through it without an issue. The stippling is very aggressive, much improved from the old m&p. Very accurate right out of the box. SOSS had the best price I could find by far. Highly recommend the pistol and SOSS.

(4 out of 5) A very good pistol, I recommend.
by from Anoka, MN on

I bought mine two months ago and have put several hundred rounds down range. The interchangeable palms wells are nice, I used the smallest one so I could slide a Hogue grip sleeve over it. No function issues at all, seems to be pretty much dead on with a variety of factory and reloads. Nice trigger, 2.0 improvement, but it still has a wee bit more creep than I was expecting. Its a half ounce heavier than my full sized FNX 40, which I actually like the added weight to help manage recoil.
The only thing I could find fault with, thus 4 stars, is the bore seems to not be polished. It has a distinct dullness to it with a few very slight shiny streaks, as though the final finishing tool used was wearing out. I first thought it was grease or a tough protectant of some sort but after cleaning and shooting and cleaning some more, no difference, still that dull look, not the nice shiny bore I always see after cleaning any of my other guns. But for the price, no one else comes close to SOSS, I can't complain, only explain.

(4 out of 5) Functioned perfectly, trigger is so so.
by from Chicago, IL on

250 rounds went through with no problems, 2 boxes of 180gr and 3 boxes of 165gr all Federal RTP. It functioned perfect as expected, but I can see why some people say the trigger is mushy. It has a little bit extra take up that wasn't expected I was expecting the trigger to be like the Shield 2.0, but it's not. Don't get me wrong its not bad but could be better.
The most important thing is that it fired every time I pulled the trigger. You can always adjust to the trigger feel. Not bad for $300 and it's only a little bit bigger than the shield but with twice the capacity. Definitely a good EDC choice!

(5 out of 5) Great handgun!
by from Yuma, AZ on

Great handgun, feels great in my hand and handles the recoil well. Shot this along with my Glock 22 and 23 and I shot better with this S&W. I had no failures to fire or feed. Not bad for the first time shooting this pistol. Sights hit to point of aim and it feels better made than my Glocks.
Only negative, factory compact mags cost more than Glock mags and I haven't found any used compact mags on the market. Overall, this pistol is a great value. If you want one get it before the price goes up again. Military rebate was another plus as well.

(5 out of 5) Great pistol at an inexpensive price!
by from Spring Hill, FL on

Worked great right out of the box - purchased a 9mm barrel and 17 round magazine - works great and cycles perfect - Good value.    Highly recommend this pistol.

(5 out of 5) Great over all pistol
by from Spring Hill, FL on

Very accurate out of the box - a very versatile pistol for the money - also you can swap out the barrel and magazine for a 9mm and it works flawless and cycles perfect. Very happy with purchase.

(5 out of 5) Follow up on firearm
by from Bullhead City, AZ on

Wanted to update my previous review and bring to your attention that the magazine extensions included are for 15 round S&W magazines. The only way I know is from a video on S&W website and my 15 rounders. No mention in description or owners manual. Now you know.

(5 out of 5) Great! Compact
by from Columbus, GA on

Royce, maybe I am late, but when you added to the cart just follow the instructions. It will ask for your zip code and it will show the closest FFL. I purchased mine 2 months ago and is great! No hiccups. I ran thru it Hornady 165/175 grains, Gold Dot 2/ Gold Dot 165 grains, Underwood 140 grains, HST 180 grains, and for target Speer 165 grains. Out of all the grains 165 grains is the best.
 I also have M&P 40mm 4.25, M&P 9mm 4.25, M&P Shield 40mm 3.1, and M&P 9mm 3.1, The only M2 is the 40mm 4 inch compact. Sold the Glock 26 and 19. Nothing but, M&Ps and M2s. Next the M2 40mm 3.36 compact. Had no issues with none. I even shot some +Ps

(5 out of 5) You can’t go wrong.
by from Bullhead City, AZ on

How can you go wrong at $299.99 for this firearm. Feels great, looks great. I can’t rate performance because this is a Mother's Day gift but have no doubt as others have said. Great price, great firearm.

(5 out of 5) M&P 2.0
by from Glendale, IL on

Got my pistol delivered within 4 days. The ergonomics are better than any pistol I’ve ever held. Feels like a glove. The sights are great. It is a beautiful gun and shoots great. I have owned a Glock 19 and 17, and I must say this gun out performs the Glocks, and looks way better. When I saw the price for it I ordered it with no hesitation. Get it, you won't regret it.

(5 out of 5) Great Pistol and Great Service

Always top notch service and products!

(5 out of 5) Great gun!
by from Myrtle Beach, SC on

Usually S&W products are amazing. This is just another example of a great product. The best part of this gun is that I can change back and forth between .40 cal and .357 SIG. Love it!

(5 out of 5) Smith & Wesson M&P 40 M2.0

This is my fourth 2.0 and second purchase from SOSS. Great prices and customer service. 100% satisfied. I will definitely buy from you guys again!

(5 out of 5) Best Glock 23 that S&W makes!
by from Hillsboro, OR on

I was going to get a G23 but I didn't want to spend $500. Saw the M&P40 2.0 Compact for $200 less and bought it. Every bit as good as a Glock, if not better. Very happy with how I shoot with this pistol. Tried a couple different palm swells. Spent some time getting used to the S&W sight picture. Took a few rounds to get acclimated to the trigger. And now I'm a happy owner. S&W built a better G23 than Glock !

(5 out of 5) Bad rap
by from Salem, UT on

Got my M&P40 2.0 compact a week ago...upon inspection it looked perfect. Off to the range I went. I also have the exact gun chambered in 9mm. Some friends tried to talk me out of buying this and not buying would have been a big mistake for me. This fires flawlessly.... very accurate. It is a bit snappier and bit more expensive to shoot than the 9mm but it doesn't bother me. I absolutely love this .40 and I am a smaller guy ....I wouldn't get rid of my 9mm but I would definitely purchase the .40 again. I say don't let anyone persuade you not to buy this gun if it's the gun you want.

(5 out of 5) professional/pleasant/helpful
by from Buncombe, IL on

Pleasant, professional, and extremely helpful. Even when I failed to realize that I was going to be out of town when my order arrived at my ffl, the staff handled everything with an air of confidence, and matters were dealt with in a prompt and professional manner. Very pleased with both my business and personal interaction. Thanks, and keep up the good work!

(1 out of 5) Horrible service
by from Bennington, VT on

I recieved the gun very fast, however, upon cleaning gun I could tell the barrel had been very well used and when contacted them they said because i accepted the transfer it was out of their hands.

(5 out of 5) Amazing first experience through Sportsman's!
by from Cheyenne, WY on

This is the first firearm I've purchased through Sportsman's, and I am blown away impressed! I ordered this M&P 40 compact on a Tuesday midday, it was at my FFL ready for pickup that Friday afternoon. Also the price, $299 no tax and free shipping, couldn't be matched nor beat by any competitor. I did my research, Buds Gun Shop wanted $331 plus shipping, and wouldn't price match, military Base Exchange had it for $445, Bass Pro/Cabelas were both $500, and finally a local gun shop had it for $530 plus tax.
The handgun itself is great. I already have the same pistol in full size for myself, this compact is for the wife. The barrel is 1/4 shorter 4 than my full size at 4 1/4, and the grip is approximately 1/2 shorter. As this is my wife's Valentines gift, she hasn't seen or held it yet, but I'm confident it will fit her hand just perfect. There are 4 palmswell inserts in the box which are stupid simple to change and make for a perfect fit for the user. As an added bonus, it came with 2 mag extensions to allow 15 round mags out of my full size to work in the compact. All in all an excellent firearm added to my collection, and a wonderful experience with this retailer! I will DEFINITELY purchase from Sportsman's again!

(5 out of 5) Love this pistol

Right out of the box, shot excellent. Right on target. I liked it so well I bought another one, at this deal you can't go wrong.

(5 out of 5) Great pistol at outstanding price
by from Bradenton, FL on

Purchased Dec 2018 for $339. Arrived in a few days perfect. Great ergonomics. Prints exactly where sights indicate with all ammo including Hornady Crit Def. Flawless operation with multiple types/brands ammo 250 rounds so far. Best pistol purchase of my life.

(5 out of 5) M&P 2.0 .40 Cal
by from Green Bay, WI on

Great pistol so far, I have around 200 rounds down range, one FTF in the first 100 rounds nothing since. Good ergonomics, less recoil and muzzle flip than my G23. Pistol is very accurate at 15 yards. Traded off my G23 after shooting the MP 2.0. Great deal.

(5 out of 5) S&W M&P 2.0 Compact
by from Tullahoma, TN on

This is a really nice pistol. It's got a lot of grip. Shoots real nice. Shot it side by side my Sig P320 compact. Both are 40 S&W and shot similar.
