The M&P M2.0 pistol is now available in compact size, ideal for concealed carry. Highlights of the M&P M2.0 Compact pistol include an extended stainless-steel chassis and high grip to barrel bore axis ratio for reduced muzzle rise and faster aim recovery. The M&P M2.0 pistol further improves performance with a fine-tuned, crisper trigger, lighter pull and a tactile and audible reset. The pistol, available in three calibers, includes an aggressively-textured grip and four interchangeable palmswell inserts for optimal hand-fit and trigger reach. Includes two magazines, a limited lifetime warranty and a lifetime service policy.
First of all...Pistols have come a long way. In this price range NO other gun can compare with the S&W MP40 2.0 . Straight out of the box it was an accurate shooter , a very good trigger and the feel and grips are top notch. Me coming from a long list of pistols from Smith and Wesson starting from the 4006, this M&P has to be at the very top of my list. I’ve always been a 40 Smith & Wesson caliber fan but I got to admit that I will be getting the 9 mm and a 45 mm as well to add to my collection.
Little big for a conceal carry in my opinion but good size for plenty of carry situations. Of your looking for something between a full size and a conceal carry weapon, this I absolutely ideal. The 2.0 trigger pull is noticeably improved over the Last generation. Factory stippling is very aggressive, feels very good in the hand but not against your waist..
I am more than satisfied with my purchase. The price was more than reasonable and the pistol was in excellent condition upon receiving. Shipping took exceptionally long but I suppose that can't be helped with all the panic buying that's been going on due to Covid-19.
This is my second review, but I must rave about this awesome pistol. I have just over 250 rounds of mixed 180 grain ammo through this gun, with zero issues, and it is very accurate. The ability to change palm swells quickly is also a big plus in fine tuning your grip. Finally, felt recoil, what felt recoil Quick and accurate follow up shots are the standard for this pistol.
This is a great 40 cal. Trigger much better than Glock. Contacted Smith&Wesson for some extra parts and customer service was great. Gun has real steel sights. Had to use some sand paper to sand down the grips on the left side because the texture is a little rough against the body but now it's perfect. Comes with 4 backstraps to customize grip.
I ordered this M&P2.0 from SOSS and got it from my FFL on 7/13. On Saturday 7/15 it was headed back to S&W. Why? Because I always tear down my new guns before shooting and clean and oil them. In your S&W owners manual under cleaning there is one sentence: Ammoniated solvents or other strong alkaline solvents, should not be used on any Smith & Wesson firearm. For 40 years I have been using Hoppes on every firearm I own, including quite a few S&Ws including 5 other M&Ps. I have never had an issue until I wiped down the slide on this weapon and the black literally wiped off exposing the gold/brass Armornite.
I called S&W on 7/15, explained what happened and sent it back for warranty work. DO NOT use Hoppes on the M&P 2.0s. They replaced the slide and last Friday I got it back, almost a month turn around but S&W does do a 2 week shutdown every year the last week of July and the first week of August. I promptly ran 800 rounds through it, it is a accurate shooter out of the box but the trigger is really not that much different then the original M&P. Its got a crunchy trigger but every M&P 1.0 has a different trigger. Some are great, some are bad. After 800 rounds this one is still crunchy. There is an aftermarket fix for that but now onto problem TWO.
The M&P 2.0 9 & 40's have a striker assembly that is different from the 1.0. There should be a stamping that says °01. Mine does not, to make this short it is the 1.0 version, there are gunsmiths who say this may cause unexpected rapid fire multi taps or FTFs and others who say there is no real difference between strikers. Basically a call to S&W was made. The correct striker 3006501 is on its way BUT S&W just got back from their annual close down so it could be on back order or they might be able to get one from manufacturing. In the mean time, I have a handgun that may or not be safe. I won't be firing it again until I install the proper striker.
If you try and order anything from S&W you are going to find that they are in the middle of a move so any parts can take 8 weeks to get. This means that the gun I bought sits until that striker comes, I'll be hitting the range with one of my 1.0s or Berettas. Right now S&W has all sorts of issues, their QC has been meh for a while and even if you order and pay for parts they are on back order. Did you know that the 2.0 palm swells fit on the 1.0's? It is model specific compact to compact - full size to full size and you have to get the 2.0 frame tool BUT even though they say they are in stock they are really on back order. I basically bought a gun in early July that had a bad finish, the slide was replaced but has the wrong striker in it and I can't shoot it for fear of it going full auto on the range. I think I got a lemon, so while most of the reviews are glowing, mine is not.
This does not reflect badly on Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore but S&W. I am pretty happy with every S&W I own, a couple have gone back for service throughout the years without any problem.
I have owned and carried a full-sized Pro Series M&P40 for years. The areas needing improvement on that gun were definitely addressed in the M2.0 series: grip, trigger and accuracy. I saw this 3.6” M&P40C M2.0 on sale for $299 and couldn’t resist. After putting about 300 rounds through it I bought a second one!
The grip is very aggressive which gives me confidence that it will never slip, even in sweaty hands. The slide rails are extended which makes the slide fit tighter on the frame, increasing accuracy. The trigger is fantastic! It breaks cleanly and has a short, audible reset. All these improvements combined to make this a very shootable, accurate gun.
The sights are steel so I am not afraid to practice one-handed reloads. They are 3-dot white sights which were accurate right out of the box. I was hitting headshots on steel at 50 yards, 9 out of 10 shots. However, I will be replacing them with AmeriGlo night sights, but that is the only upgrade I think this gun needs. If you are a .40 fan, buy this gun.
This is a follow up review. Firearm is great. Fired 500 flawless rounds. However, finding a holster for it is difficult. Very few are available for this new firearm. Tried a couple of existing holsters made for full size and Compact 1.0. I could not get them to adjust to get decent retention but still permit quick draw stroke.
Had to modify and adjust all 3 holsters with none of them ending up like I like them. The slide is a touch wider than the 1.0. Shape is slightly different also so body and slide make more contact. Holsters are already showing a lot of wear on the firearm. The warning on the side is already mostly worn off because of difficulty getting a good fit. Hopefully, more made to fit holsters will be available soon.
Fell in love with it as soon as i got it. Put a little over 500 rounds of brass case and a box of aluminum case ammo and it performed 100% with every shot. I personally like the feel of the trigger on the SD9/40VE but it's still alright in my opinion. Haven't shot an original M&P so I wouldn't be able to compare the trigger pull between both.
Would recommend to anyone looking to get one. It's well worth it for the price you're paying.
Quickly became my favorite pistol. About 300 rounds through with 0 malfunctions. Everyone should own this pistol for $299 you can’t beat the price. Accurate, ergonomic, and great service from SOSS. Quick shipping.
About 500 cheap rounds through it without an issue. The stippling is very aggressive, much improved from the old m&p. Very accurate right out of the box. SOSS had the best price I could find by far. Highly recommend the pistol and SOSS.
I bought mine two months ago and have put several hundred rounds down range. The interchangeable palms wells are nice, I used the smallest one so I could slide a Hogue grip sleeve over it. No function issues at all, seems to be pretty much dead on with a variety of factory and reloads. Nice trigger, 2.0 improvement, but it still has a wee bit more creep than I was expecting. Its a half ounce heavier than my full sized FNX 40, which I actually like the added weight to help manage recoil.
The only thing I could find fault with, thus 4 stars, is the bore seems to not be polished. It has a distinct dullness to it with a few very slight shiny streaks, as though the final finishing tool used was wearing out. I first thought it was grease or a tough protectant of some sort but after cleaning and shooting and cleaning some more, no difference, still that dull look, not the nice shiny bore I always see after cleaning any of my other guns. But for the price, no one else comes close to SOSS, I can't complain, only explain.
250 rounds went through with no problems, 2 boxes of 180gr and 3 boxes of 165gr all Federal RTP. It functioned perfect as expected, but I can see why some people say the trigger is mushy. It has a little bit extra take up that wasn't expected I was expecting the trigger to be like the Shield 2.0, but it's not. Don't get me wrong its not bad but could be better.
The most important thing is that it fired every time I pulled the trigger. You can always adjust to the trigger feel. Not bad for $300 and it's only a little bit bigger than the shield but with twice the capacity. Definitely a good EDC choice!
Great handgun, feels great in my hand and handles the recoil well. Shot this along with my Glock 22 and 23 and I shot better with this S&W. I had no failures to fire or feed. Not bad for the first time shooting this pistol. Sights hit to point of aim and it feels better made than my Glocks.
Only negative, factory compact mags cost more than Glock mags and I haven't found any used compact mags on the market. Overall, this pistol is a great value. If you want one get it before the price goes up again. Military rebate was another plus as well.
Worked great right out of the box - purchased a 9mm barrel and 17 round magazine - works great and cycles perfect - Good value. Highly recommend this pistol.
Very accurate out of the box - a very versatile pistol for the money - also you can swap out the barrel and magazine for a 9mm and it works flawless and cycles perfect. Very happy with purchase.
Wanted to update my previous review and bring to your attention that the magazine extensions included are for 15 round S&W magazines. The only way I know is from a video on S&W website and my 15 rounders. No mention in description or owners manual. Now you know.
Royce, maybe I am late, but when you added to the cart just follow the instructions. It will ask for your zip code and it will show the closest FFL. I purchased mine 2 months ago and is great! No hiccups. I ran thru it Hornady 165/175 grains, Gold Dot 2/ Gold Dot 165 grains, Underwood 140 grains, HST 180 grains, and for target Speer 165 grains. Out of all the grains 165 grains is the best.
I also have M&P 40mm 4.25, M&P 9mm 4.25, M&P Shield 40mm 3.1, and M&P 9mm 3.1, The only M2 is the 40mm 4 inch compact. Sold the Glock 26 and 19. Nothing but, M&Ps and M2s. Next the M2 40mm 3.36 compact. Had no issues with none. I even shot some +Ps
Just put my 1st hundred rounds down range today! Shot Blazer Brass 165 gr and Remington 180 gr with zero issue. Had never shot .40 before today and was expecting quite the snappy experience. However the recoil was very manageable. This hand cannon is a smooth shooter :0.
For only $299 out the door I just couldn't be happier with this purchase!! BTW...I officially consider myself a .40 fan now! Will see how long this fandom lasts considering premium cost of the ammo.
I strongly prefer hammer-fired pistols but this is a nice gun. The trigger on the 2.0 is dramatically better than the original, even if you can't tell by dry-firing. I'm not a big fan of the fit and finish of the M&Ps. HK, Glock, FN, and even CZ polymers all far surpass M&P but this is a smooth shooting .40. If you like striker-fired pistols this is a nice gun even at full retail. I got mine at a steep discount which makes it an absolute steal...
How can you go wrong at $299.99 for this firearm. Feels great, looks great. I can’t rate performance because this is a Mother's Day gift but have no doubt as others have said. Great price, great firearm.
Got my pistol delivered within 4 days. The ergonomics are better than any pistol I’ve ever held. Feels like a glove. The sights are great. It is a beautiful gun and shoots great. I have owned a Glock 19 and 17, and I must say this gun out performs the Glocks, and looks way better. When I saw the price for it I ordered it with no hesitation. Get it, you won't regret it.
The 2.0 has great grip surface, and I sweat a lot, smooth trigger, match Trigger, well NO. It is a defense gun not a paper punch. Eats any ammo, I ran through it. Very accurate for a defense pistol. Like a potato chip, can't just get one! Yes, I got more than one and glad I did. Do not pass this by.......I Love it!
I purchased this pistol strictly for home defense, as I carry a M&P Shield 9mm daily and wanted something a little bigger with greater capacity and the ability to mount a flashlight. My Shield has been flawless and I wanted a gun with the same controls for home defense. When I saw SOSS had the M&P M2.0 .40 S&W Compact for $299, it was a no-brainer to order one!
Placed my order Saturday night and it was delivered the following Friday to my FFL in Wisconsin. More than acceptable given the volume of guns SOSS sells and ships on a weekly basis. They were up front when I called to confirm my FFLs license was received. They told me it would be 3 days until it shipped and that all pistols ship 2nd day via FedEx, which I was fine with.
So far, I have shot Winchester WB, Blazer Aluminum, Speer Gold Dot and Federal HST all 180 gr. and all have cycled flawlessly in the pistol. The ergonomics of this pistol are awesome, as is the grip texture on the M2.0 pistols! Don't pass up this deal on a fantastic home defense weapon!
This site was almost too good when I saw what this gun was listed for. I decided to buy it after reading reviews and it was a great decision. Free shipping and received it quickly to my ffl dealer. While there, I price checked what it would've costed me there and found it would've been $200 more.
I was so impressed that I bought their Springfield XDS 45 deal immediately after. I found my new site to purchase firearms from that's for sure!
Always top notch service and products!
Love my M&P's. These compact .40s are a dream to shoot, and the size is perfect! Great customer service, can't go wrong!
Usually S&W products are amazing. This is just another example of a great product. The best part of this gun is that I can change back and forth between .40 cal and .357 SIG. Love it!
I purchased my MP40 M2.0 Compact on March 12th. I chose the standard free shipping and my FFL received the gun on March 21st. When I got the gun home I disassembled, cleaned and lubricated it. I finally got a chance to go to the range today and I shot 300 mixed Winchester and Federal 180 grain rounds.
The gun performed flawlessly. There were absolutely zero problems or malfunctions. The gun is very accurate too. This was my first time firing a .40 and I had no problems at all with recoil. The gun shot very smoothly. I enjoyed my time at the range with it very much. This was also my first purchase from Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore and it will not be my last. I recommend them as well as the MP40!
This is my fourth 2.0 and second purchase from SOSS. Great prices and customer service. 100% satisfied. I will definitely buy from you guys again!
I was going to get a G23 but I didn't want to spend $500. Saw the M&P40 2.0 Compact for $200 less and bought it. Every bit as good as a Glock, if not better. Very happy with how I shoot with this pistol. Tried a couple different palm swells. Spent some time getting used to the S&W sight picture. Took a few rounds to get acclimated to the trigger. And now I'm a happy owner. S&W built a better G23 than Glock !
Got my M&P40 2.0 compact a week ago...upon inspection it looked perfect. Off to the range I went. I also have the exact gun chambered in 9mm. Some friends tried to talk me out of buying this and not buying would have been a big mistake for me. This fires flawlessly.... very accurate. It is a bit snappier and bit more expensive to shoot than the 9mm but it doesn't bother me. I absolutely love this .40 and I am a smaller guy ....I wouldn't get rid of my 9mm but I would definitely purchase the .40 again. I say don't let anyone persuade you not to buy this gun if it's the gun you want.
This is the best deal going on any pistol at any price. People pay more than what I paid for this great pistol for lower quality used pistols. I am really glad that 40 has fallen out of favor, otherwise there is no way Id be able to buy a great pistol like the M2.0 Compact at this price point. The pistol was beautifully finished inside and out and the grip texture is great.
One thing I was worried about was the ambi slide stop/release. I saw on a lot of reviews that the right side release was almost unusable. It is very stiff right out of the box, but becomes much easier to actuate the more you use it. The gun was also a really soft shooter as far as most 40 cals go. Very accurate and reliable. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. At this price it really is a no brainer. If you're on the fence about buying this gun, jump on off and pull the trigger. You won't be disappointed!
Like all M&P guns I have owned, this one is flawless! I like it so much I'm getting a second one. Unlike some shooters, I buy several types of ammo to test in a new gun. She feeds HST Gold dot and lawman with ease! Great gun, great price and great service from my first SOSS purchase!
So I bought this MP40 because of the price. I have zero experience with S&W as I'm mostly a Glock guy. Took it to the range with my brand new Springfield 1911 and my police trade in Glock 22. Both the Glock and Springfield worked flawlessly. However, the S&W jammed every single round through 50 rounds. It jammed feeding the next round into the chamber. The round would be jammed at a 45 angle going up the feed ramp. I'd have to pull back on the slide just a 1/16th of an inch and release and the slide would close properly feeding the round correctly. However, pull the trigger and exact same issue next round. I thought maybe it would clear up the more I shot. But once I emptied the 50 round box, I quit shooting it as I was highly irritated with its performance.
Maybe it was the brand of shells I was using Perfecta, but the Glock 22 had zero issues with it. I don't know, maybe I'll give it another 50 rounds of a different brand. If it does the same thing it's going to S&W. I cannot speak for others issues, but I do recommend googling MP40 jamming before buying and look at the amount of internet threads out there on this very subject.
I have 2 Shields and 2 Compacts 1.0 and love the M&P products. This one is no different. Grip texture, new trigger, and slightly longer barrel are nice improvements. Already ordered new holster and also ordered a 9MM barrel to shoot both calibers. SOSS has always been great to work with. Had to make a correction on my order over the phone and was handled quickly and professionally. This offer is a great buy if you like M&P products.
Pleasant, professional, and extremely helpful. Even when I failed to realize that I was going to be out of town when my order arrived at my ffl, the staff handled everything with an air of confidence, and matters were dealt with in a prompt and professional manner. Very pleased with both my business and personal interaction. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
The 1st 100 were flawless. This pistol was accurate out the box and is an easy shooter. I am extremly satisfied with this purchase. I previously carried a Glock 23 and for the price difference, this is definitely the one to buy. Also satisfied with the transaction, which was seamless and timely. Ordered on a Monday and had it in my hands Friday.
I waited a couple of weeks to write this review. I have several M&Ps . I put about 500 rounds through this gun, as usual no flows, used all kinds of ammo cheap, brass , steal you name it... no misfire or jamming. S&W makes great guns . The trigger is much improved feels great. For this price I would say it's a no brainer.
From the start, communication was great. The firearm arrived at my ffl promptly and they were able to iron out all the issues I had with delivering a gun in my state. Thank you!
I recieved the gun very fast, however, upon cleaning gun I could tell the barrel had been very well used and when contacted them they said because i accepted the transfer it was out of their hands.
I ordered it 2/3/19 and got it today on 2/7/19. Great shooting pistol and it’s the first one I’ve ordered from this site. I’ll definitely be checking here before buying anywhere else again.
This is the first firearm I've purchased through Sportsman's, and I am blown away impressed! I ordered this M&P 40 compact on a Tuesday midday, it was at my FFL ready for pickup that Friday afternoon. Also the price, $299 no tax and free shipping, couldn't be matched nor beat by any competitor. I did my research, Buds Gun Shop wanted $331 plus shipping, and wouldn't price match, military Base Exchange had it for $445, Bass Pro/Cabelas were both $500, and finally a local gun shop had it for $530 plus tax.
The handgun itself is great. I already have the same pistol in full size for myself, this compact is for the wife. The barrel is 1/4 shorter 4 than my full size at 4 1/4, and the grip is approximately 1/2 shorter. As this is my wife's Valentines gift, she hasn't seen or held it yet, but I'm confident it will fit her hand just perfect. There are 4 palmswell inserts in the box which are stupid simple to change and make for a perfect fit for the user. As an added bonus, it came with 2 mag extensions to allow 15 round mags out of my full size to work in the compact. All in all an excellent firearm added to my collection, and a wonderful experience with this retailer! I will DEFINITELY purchase from Sportsman's again!
Right out of the box, shot excellent. Right on target. I liked it so well I bought another one, at this deal you can't go wrong.
Purchased Dec 2018 for $339. Arrived in a few days perfect. Great ergonomics. Prints exactly where sights indicate with all ammo including Hornady Crit Def. Flawless operation with multiple types/brands ammo 250 rounds so far. Best pistol purchase of my life.
Great pistol so far, I have around 200 rounds down range, one FTF in the first 100 rounds nothing since. Good ergonomics, less recoil and muzzle flip than my G23. Pistol is very accurate at 15 yards. Traded off my G23 after shooting the MP 2.0. Great deal.
After working with SOSS, I became completely satisfied with the deal on this M&P. Unbeatable deal, unbeatable customer service!!!!
Finally got this gun in my hands on 3/20 and can tell you it was worth the wait. Like the 9mm version, this gun is the perfect size for concealed carry or home defense. You get 13+1 of hard hitting .40, and if you carry the available full size 15 round magazine with the included magazine sleeve that gives you 29 rounds. When I got to the range the gun performed as expected. The aggressive grip texturing is a plus. The gun simply does not move in your hand when firing at any pace. With just a light cleaning beforehand I put 253 rounds of a variety of ammo through the gun at a variety of distances 7, 10 and 15 yards with zero malfunctions. Accuracy was very good as well on 8 targets at the listed distances shot at an average of either 2 or 3 shots per second based on the timer. And once again, good service from SOSS. It took them a few extra days to ship due to high sales volume, but that was fine. They shipped on the promised day. If you're on the fence about this gun, or dealing with SOSS, GET OFF THE FENCE already!
This is a really nice pistol. It's got a lot of grip. Shoots real nice. Shot it side by side my Sig P320 compact. Both are 40 S&W and shot similar.
