These photos represent the average condition of these Yugo M48 7.9x57mm Mauser rifles, all of which are graded as good condition by the importer.
Please Note: Surplus firearm may be missing various parts. This is not always the case, but should not be unexpected.
I purchased a Mauser M48 which was rated as Good. I had heard these rifles often didn't include things such as sight hoods and cleaning rods or matching serial numbers, though I only cared about an accurate rifle. The serial numbers on mine don't match and ATI adds two engravings, though the sight hood was included. The bore was pristine and the bolt ran smoothly. After removing the Cosmoline I found no rust on the rifle. The rifle shoots roughly 6in groups at 100yards, which is sufficient for basic hunting purposes. If you're looking for more accuracy, there are scopes made which don't require damaging the historic value. Overall, Im glad I didn't let the negative reviews scare me away.
Have to say the rifle arrived in better condition than I thought it would. After taking it apart, the barrel is in great condition, no pitting or rust to be had. Not to mention the bore looks fantastic. Only area where there was major rust was inside the bolt itself. Stock has a few dings and scratches, but no major damage to be had, adds a little character. Got all matching s/n, so that was a nice bonus, but didn't matter to me that much. Overall pleased with my purchase.
Rifle arrived in impressive condition, only noticeable wear appeared to be bits of rust on the buttplate and some minor gouges on the receiver and woodwork. Disassembly of the rifle also showed it to be in good condition beyond one major thing: the magazine spring had broken at the follower, causing a failure to feed for the final round in it.
I know what I was buying here but i purchased the good condition thinking that I would get decent. Upon taking the bolt apart the inside was a sea of rust. Not a little rust but covered my work table in rust dust when I took it apart. There was a good amount of rust on the on the outside of the barrel as well after removing it from the stock which was also cracked and was extremely rough with a good sized chunk missing by the butt stock. I have not fired the rifle yet so I cannot comment on that. With all of that I know what this was but Good condition to should be a bit better than two days of getting this thing cleaned up. I just want to let everyone know exactly what you are getting here.
