Featuring a 6" long slide, the 45 ACP Stainless Target (LS) embodies all the custom features found standard on every Kimber 1911, proving once again that Kimber simultaneously produces America's highest quality 1911, and offers the best value.
The Stainless (LS) is built from superior quality raw materials that are both machined and hand-crafted into the 1911 that all others are measured against. Each Stainless (LS) features a 6” barrel and slide hand-fitted to the frame, dovetail mounted rear adjustable target sight and front red fiber optic sight, a beveled magazine well, match-grade trigger, and refined scallop/checkered rosewood grips with the Kimber logo.
I've had my Kimber 6-inch Long Slide 1911A1 0.45 ACP pistol since May 2018. I have run 2609 rounds through it with zero feed or ejection failures with 230-grain FMJ ammo from American Eagle, Browning, Geco, Armscor, and Sellier & Bellot. Wear has been minimal, with a nice even polish to the friction surfaces. I use Clean/Lubricate/Protect oil after every range session. After zeroing the rear iron sight, this pistol is accurate out to 50 and 100 yards with 230-grain Sellier & Bellot FMJ ammo flying at ~895 f/s from a 6-inch barrel. I was able to make both head and chest shots from these ranges with a 50% hit average 54% from 50 yards, and 52% from 100 yards. The outdoor rifle range officer challenged me to plink an empty 50-round ammo box in the dirt back stop behind the 50-yard target stand, and I knocked it away on the 3rd shot. This Kimber is accurate and will send a 230-grain bullet down range. Buy the Kimber. It's the best 6-inch long slide for your hard-earned American dollar, and you won't find a better price than Sportsman Outdoor Superstore.
I've had my new Kimber 1911 0.45 ACP Stainless Steel Long Slide Target Pistol barely a week, and I've run 661 rounds through it, dialing in the rear sight. From the factory the rear sight was way to the left, so I centered it, and spent 3 range test sessions moving the rear sight to the right, one click at a time. After dialing in the rear sight, the Kimber is a great-shooting 0.45 ACP 6-inch long slide 1911 pistol. Its recoil is slightly tamer than my 5-inch 1911A1 pistols, while its target accuracy and precision from 75-feet out is better than my 5-inch barreled 1911s. Sight picture with the Long Slides red fiber optic front sight is wonderful, and it's hard going back to the 3-white-dot sights on my 5-inch 1911s. I switched out the Kimber's flat main spring housing with an Ed Brown stainless steel arched main spring housing, to match my Norinco replica Colt M1911A1, and my Ruger SR1911A1 which also has a swapped out flat-for-arched Ed Brown main spring housing--all my 1911s have a familiar grip feel with the arched main spring housings. The Kimber has a slightly undercut trigger guard compared with my Norinco and Ruger 1911s, so the rear sight needed adjusting upwards rounds landed low from 75 feet without the adjustment. If you find the Kimber 1911 6-inch Long Slide 0.45 ACP target pistol in stock, order it--it doesn't stay in stock more than a week!
SOSS is great. The price was the lowest I could find on the web, and it arrived in four business days. The pistol was as advertised, and was in perfect condition. The trigger pull is light and smooth. Fit and finish are excellent. The day it arrived I rushed home and fired 64 rounds without any malfunctions. Accuracy is better than I am capable of. All 64 rounds were in a paper plate at 25 yards. I shot two handed with no support. I did not use the magazine that came with the gun. I'm very satisfied with SOSS, and the Kimber long slide.
