I recently purchased the Mossberg Patriot in .308. Had it delivered to the local Alamo. Easy process. Rifle arrived within 5 days boxed with the fluted bolt and 5rd clip removed. Brought the rifle to the range to sight in the scope and run some rounds to break it in.
Scope was perfectly sighted in. 1st grouping was tight and centered at 100yds. And 200yds. I added a bipod. I Love this Rifle in .308 and can't wait to eradicate some Wild Florida Boars this month!
I was pleased with how the gun looked right out of the box, and happy that it felt solid for a synthetic and lightweight stock. I'd rather not have a spiral fluted bolt but it's not horrible. The bolt action is fairly smooth but feels loose, wish it felt more connected. Magazine is plastic but more like the gun stock kind so semi-durable. It also inserts and comes out of the stock easily and felt secure. The scope looks nice and performs decently. I wish I would have gotten a 4x12 though.
As for performance, overall I'm fairly pleased. It was NOT bore sighted, didn't hit the paper at 100 yards in first 3. I was moving those hairs everywhere to get it lined up, but once I found semi-center I was at 3/4 groups. Went through 40 rds, 20 Hornady 150gr and 20 non typical white tail 150gr. I think the Federal grouped better, but both did fine. I think this gun barrel also needs some more breaking in. As mentioned it's a good rifle, especially for the cost.
