The adventure and romance of America’s Old West are imbedded in its distinctive 20-inch octagon barrel, straight-grip American walnut stock with brass buttplate and brass barrel band. The solid top brass receiver features side ejection. The overall length is 38½ inches and this powerhouse weighs in at 8.68 lbs.
A nice 19th century touch is the use of a fully adjustable Marble semi-buckhorn rear sight with white diamond insert and brass beaded front sight. The Big Boys have the smoothest actions of any centerfire lever action rifles on the market today. They work beautifully to give you competition shooters a leg up in any event you take part in.
This rifle has not lived up to its potential. I wish I could say that it was a quality rifle but it is not. After firing less than 100 rounds I had to send it for warranty service to Henry to replace a broken firing pin. When I received the repaired rifle, the extractor broke after firing 50 rounds. I resent it to Henry which they repaired and upon receiving it, the firing pin broke again after firing less than 200 rounds. All of this occurred in less than a year after my purchase.
Looks great and they shipped fast. Im super happy with this hard to find Henry that doesn't have a side gate.
I’ve been looking for another firearm that shoots 44 magnum rounds other than my S&W model 29 revolver. I wanted something heavy to shoot hot 44 magnum rounds without too much punishment from this cartridge. I found it with this Henry Big Boy. Not only does it weigh close to 9 pounds but you also have three points of touch shoulder, and both hands. It’s a beautiful gun. The brass and walnut just can’t be beat. This is my first lever action but once you get used to it it’s extremely easy to eject the used round and rack a new one. I would buy again. Thinking about getting this gun in the .357 magnum version. Anyway very nice gun.
