When it comes to combining the timeless classic cowboy style with your favorite attributes of a modern revolver, the Sidekick has it all. The Sidekick shows off an old school cowboy personality with a classic look and feel. They added features such as a swing-out cylinder release incorporated into the old school ejection rod, a smooth black Cerakote finish, checkered polymer grip panels, and an additional 9 shot .22 Magnum cylinder that is remarkably easy to change out. Diamondback also went with a rear integral and a fixed front blade sight which is wildly important when you need to be quick on the draw. The Sidekick is not only chambered in 22Lr with a 9-shot cylinder but also comes with an additional 9-shot cylinder chambered in 22Mag, allowing you to enjoy a firearm that is great for self-defense with manageable recoil, hunting small game, pest control, as well as some enjoyable and inexpensive target practice.

(4 out of 5) OK - but definitely NOT a Hi-Standard quality
by from Phoenix, AZ on

I got this gun in September. I had a 9-shot Hi-Standard in the 1970's that I just loved. It was stolen and I never replaced it. They are much too expensive now, if you even find a used one.

This Sidekick would be a good replacement. It is OK but far short of the quality of the Hi-Standard. I have put about 500 rounds through it but had a lot of sticking spent shells. I have polished the .22 reg cylinder at least three times. The .22 Mag cylinder is fine. It has finally gotten to where I can knock out the spent shells with a small tap on the ejector rod. It is very accurate but the fit and finish could be improved. The handle grips were a little loose so I put a little spacer behind them to make them tight. Like I said, it is OK, though a little overpriced.

(5 out of 5) Great revolver
by from Beaverton, OR on

Looked for a double action 22LR for years and all everyone seems to have is single action. This is a great revolver, very happy with it.

(4 out of 5) 22mag Cylinder
by from Hockessin, DE on

Man what a cool revolver. Only my second single action platform but what you want in this great concept piece. Mag cylinder finish and both bores flawed. Filled out DB web cust service warranty form with pics.

(5 out of 5) Way more fun than a single action
by from Bellingham, WA on

This little revolver is a bargain. It's double action and single action. The cylinder swings out for quick reloading. Way more fun than the Ruger Wrangler or inexpensive Heritage .22’s. Ruger should follow Diamondback's lead and make a DA/SA, affordable .22.
