Product Description

This unique food plot mix comprised of buckwheat, spring triticale, crimson clover, balansa clover and tillage radish can be planted in the spring or fall and is not only designed to attract deer, but also offers plenty of soil improvement characteristics as well. Because of its ease of use and dual purpose overhaul is a great plot for establishing a first-time food plot location or a rotational crop to help boost the soil in-between plantings. Overhaul can grow in adverse soil conditions and will help suppress weeds, break up compaction, fixate nitrogen, increase water infiltration, enrich and “fertilize” the soil by mining potassium and phosphorus and offers increased microbial growth for future plots.

Overhaul is not designed to completely replace the need for lime or fertilizer, as they suggest using the recommended fertilizer rate based on the domain plot you plan to plant afer “overhauling” your soil. Your soil test will help determine the appropriate amount of lime to apply to ammend soil as well. Additionally, while they recommend 200-300 lbs of fertilizer per acre on overhaul to maximize it’s growth and forage production (for comsumption by deer), it can be planted with little to no fertilizer if your only goal is to mine nutrients and work to improve soil environment.
