(3 out of 5) S&W Quality Control slipping on firearms
by from Millsap, TX on

I purchased this M&P FDE pistol several months ago and was eagerly awaiting my trip to my FFL to pick it up once the pistol arrived. When I did pick up the pistol, I inspected it and found 4 horizontal lines of darkened/tough metal across the surface of the feed ramp. If the feed ramp was a roadway, the 4 horizontal lines looked like speed bumps. This pistol should have never left the factory, but it is what it is and I contacted S&W and after sending them photos of their unfinished work, I received an RMA number/ticket to return the pistol to them. It took 4-5 weeks to get the pistol back and it works fine after one of their gunsmiths finished removing the obstructions on the feed ramp and re-polished it. I have 30 years working for a large West coast police department and am very familiar with S&W revolvers and pistols since i carried them on and off duty, staking my life to both my training and equipment. Please check what you purchase, especially on-line to ensure to do not get a lemon. Hope this helps.
