The Colt 1911 Classic Government is built on an all-steel frame finished in Black DLC, a surface treatment that delivers exceptional hardness and corrosion resistance while providing the dark, refined canvas that makes the gold scroll barleycorn engraving truly stand out. The Series 70 firing system provides a direct, crisp single-action trigger pull that eliminates the additional components of Series 80 designs, preserving the clean break and consistent reset that has made the 1911 platform a benchmark for handgun accuracy for over a century. For precision shooters and 1911 enthusiasts who demand a refined trigger experience in a full-size Government Model frame, the Colt 1911 Classic Government delivers without compromise.
Fixed sights provide a reliable, snag-free aiming solution consistent with the classic Government Model profile, and the thumb, grip, and firing pin safety combination delivers a comprehensive passive and active safety system rooted in traditional 1911 design principles. At 8.5" overall length and 35 oz., the Colt 1911 Classic Government carries the full-size Government Models familiar weight and balance that generations of shooters have trained with, ensuring a natural point of aim and predictable recoil management across extended range sessions. For competitive shooters, range enthusiasts, and collectors who value the heritage and balance of the original Government Model platform, this pistol offers a proven shooting experience wrapped in a special edition finish.
The gold scroll barleycorn engraving paired with the Black DLC finish positions the Colt 1911 Classic Government as a purpose-built tribute to the commercial Government Models that defined an era of American pistol craftsmanship. Double diamond checkered rosewood grips complete the classic aesthetic while delivering real-world functionality, providing a secure and comfortable grip surface through any shooting session.
