Elk. Whitetail. Boar. Home defense. When the application calls for buckshot, you can always count on Remington. This 12 gauge shotshell is loaded with approximately 1-1/4 ounces of 000 buckshot – triple-aught – which means it is designed to punch eight separate 0.36” diameter holes into anything it is aimed at.
This is a 2-3/4” shell, with a 1,325 feet per second muzzle velocity. Its 3-3/4 dram equivalent means that it is not the most powerful 000 buck load you could purchase, but that hardly makes it weak. All eight lead balls combined are due to transfer approximately 2,000 ft lbs of energy to their target at close range, which puts the 5.56 to shame.
Such rapid acceleration could have caused the shot pellets to flatten down and pattern loosely had Remington not had the foresight to suspend the shot column in granulated buffering material. The supple granules complement the hinged Power-Piston wad to maintain the pellet roundness requisite for a narrow and more effective pattern. These high-brass shells shoot clean and have the oomph an autoloader needs to cycle reliably!
