I went to 147 grain for a while, because it looked good on paper targets. Unfortunately hollow point expansion is velocity dependent, so back to 124 grain I went. 1140-1150 FPS will probably translate to 1095-1125 in my 3.4-3.8 barrels and 1160 in my 5 barrels. The 147 grain ammo does not expand as well in cow carcasses, or other roadkill, as much as 124 grain, and Speer Gold Dot, is a great choice in ammo! I am not a fan of the expensive ammo that comes in 20 and 25 round packaging. Even Golden Saber was packaged in 50 round boxes for the Police, and that was another ammo I used expensively. It even saved my life one October night in 2003. I'd trust the Gold Dot just as much as the Golden Saber. Accuracy is superb, as is reliability in any guns I have tried it in ranging from Glock, FN FS, Browning Hi Power, FEG R9s, Llama, Star, Astra, S&W M&P, Walther, Beretta, H&K or Hi Point. From $3000 super guns to cheapo police trade ins from East Europe, Speer Gold Dot, just works! I do go through my older guns, and reshape, polish, and throat feed ramps & chambers, so your mileage may vary. All in all, Gold Dot is a winner and Ill stake my life on it.
