The Patented FTX Bullet
The FTX bullets loaded in all Hornady Critical Defense handgun ammunition are designed to expand and provide the terminal performance needed for close encounters often associated with personal protection situations. Additionally, Critical DEFENSE is not intended for use in extreme (law enforcement) situations that require superior barrier performance. However, the FTX bullet will expand reliably and will not clog like standard hollow point bullets when fired through heavy clothing. In addition, Critical DEFENSE ammunition IS optimized for short barreled, concealed carry style handguns and will not deliver excessive recoil and associated “muzzle flip.”

Hornady continues to post on their website that they have suspended nickel casings due to delay in production for 4+ weeks. So in order to get the ammo out, they decided to without the nickel. It is temporary, but if you are looking for nickel, my suggestion is for you to check with manufacturers websites first before purchasing any products.
However, nickel casing cryptically functions flawlessly over those of brass which is why the nickel are tough to find. In the photo above, this product depicts nickel casings. When received, they were of brass. I will use what nickel casings I've got remaining for EDC and shove the brass for range training. I'd return them but it's too much of a hassle. Had I known the casings were brass, I'd not ordered them.
If youll do your research, youll find that this HORNADY CRITICAL DEFENSE round has been engineered to give you the penetration and lethality of expansion that puts your 380 AUTO pocket pistol for EDC on par with other self-defense calibers!
You can not beat the reliability of this ammo. Never a FTF or misfire. Always very accurate.
Not one fail to feed or fire. Very accurate. Would highly recommend.
