For 2020, Colt has consolidated all Commercial & LE Rifle rollmarks under one common model naming nomenclature,"Colt Carbine". This change allows for consistency in manufacturing across current and future rifle builds. Features on this model are identical to the prior LE6920 platform, with the exception of the changed rollmark.
Colt Defense is one of the world’s leading designers, developers, and manufacturers of rifles and carbines. Tried and true, the CR6920 M4 Carbine boasts proven advantages like a safe, semi-automatic rate of fire for potent firepower capability and speed of target acquisition.
Colt customers expect the best, and Colt remains committed to offering nothing but the highest quality products to each and every customer.
Just wanted to correct a reviewer here that stated this CR model is not as good of quality as the previous LE 6920. I have seen both models and this CR model appears to be all high quality Colt components. Cage code marks on the receiver and barrel. The charging handle is colt cage code marked. Bolt is MPC marked. Bolt carrier is C etched. Everything about these appears milspec -they are the real deal semi-auto M4. The receiver is laser etched instead of roll-marked, but that is just how companies are marking their receivers in 2020. The fit and finish on all of the CR6920s that I have seen is much better than the Colt LE6920s of 2017-2018. Many of the older LE6920s arrived with marks, scratches, and basically most appeared to be blems. This current batch is VERY NICE however. Current SOSS price on these $1999 is not competitive.
Colt sets the standard for the AR15 as when the competition runs their advertisements they will state something along the lines of just as good as a Colt. This platform has performed great and its the reason military and law enforcement around the world have them as their go to rifles. Im sure Colt has raised their prices based on part prices but its the folks after this gun leaves the factory that sets the price. Case in point, in the last 8 months I have bought 3 of this same rifle under a LE program for $949.99 thru a different vendor. There are a lot of ARs to choose from and for the average shooter who shoots a couple thousand rounds a year they all will perform. I carried a Colt 6700 as a duty rifle for 20 or my 30 years as a cop and it served me well, so I have no problem recommending Colts based on my experience. Whatever you have, if you like it then that works for me. Glad to live in America! I have bought several guns from Sportsman Superstore as they have very competitive prices in the market along with availability.
It seems that the CR series is not much better than the Expanse rifles, no where near the LEs, sad.
To allege that it is Colt raising prices is forgetting that the retail dealer also has a hand in what you pay. The Colt is most likely purchased at the right time, will hold its value b/c “everyone” knows “COLT” besides it passes its owner dependability. There are no compromises period. Yes now at these prices one is in the higher end ARs price points but neither are they readily available to buy.
I purchased a Colt 6920 magpul edition in 2017 for $795, and it was a good buy at that price. Then Colt bowed to political pressure and stopped selling the 6920 to civilians. Now in late 2020 Colt has decided to sell that SAME rifle again to civilians, but for triple the price!! What a joke!! Do yourselves a favor and buy the IWI Z-15 for $850, put a Eotech on it, buy 10 P-mags, and 1,000 rounds of ammo, and you would be $100 more than the Colt and have a better gun......This from a owner of both.
