(4 out of 5) Very happy, but two minor detractions
by from Kodak, TN on

First of all, for the price, I am very happy with this purchase. To get the PDP and a red dot for under 5 Benjamins is a fantastic deal. Then add the current Walther safe promotion too, and I couldn't pass it up. This is my 3rd PDP, so I'm very familiar with them. The fit and finish of this one is every bit what I expect from Walther.

As for the issues:

  1. The Cerakote gray finish on the slide was clearly applied after manufacturing, as it covers up the laser-engraved markings and serial number on the slide itself.

  2. This is a first-generation slide cut, so the SCS-PDP will NOT work with this gun. I'm okay with both of those issues - especially for the price - but it's something to be aware of for anyone else considering a purchase of one of these. I have no concerns with the gen 1 optic plates, having used them for years in competitions without any problems whatsoever. But the inability to mount the SCS-PDP optic could be an issue for someone else.

Also, just note that the gray finish is much darker than it appears in the photo. The photo looks like a light gray or even silver, but the finish in person is closer to a medium/dark, almost charcoal gray. If you're looking for a flashy silver slide, this isn't it.

Lastly, even though an optic was included in the purchase deal, the optic plate is not. I assumed this would be the case, so I was not surprised when I picked it up from my FFL. You will still need to order your free optic plate directly from Walther.

All said, I am very happy with the purchase and would definitely buy it again.

(5 out of 5) Cant beat the deal!
by from Jacksonville, FL on

I have yet to shoot it, as I just got it today, I guess I got lucky as the one I got was the 2022 model which is the one that comes with the newer 2.0 RMR cut that the 2021 model shown in the pics does not and has the first gen RMR cut, though I really had not heard of any real issues with anyone that got the series 1 RMR cut and plates, So I was happy to see that mine was the 2022 model that has the 2.0 RMR cut though. I thought that the gun came with the RMR plate with the Ameriglo red dot, but I didnt receive one, but did go on Walthers site and order the 1 free Optics plate you can order with your gun purchase, The only draw back is I will have to wait like 2 weeks to receive the plate in order to install my red dot, I just saw someone that did a Youtube video showing that they got the PDP and Ameriglo dot and that the plate came with it... Still though for FOR $489 with the included red dot that sells for like $280 online and also a free Hornady handgun lock box that retails for like $120 , you cant beat the deal, Only thing I dont like is the out of state $30+ sales tax, that for some reason some businesses DONT charge this out of state sales tax, but then you have certain sites that do choose to charge an out of state sales tax But still for everything included it is still a heck of a deal with the sales tax charge..

(5 out of 5) PDP W 2.0 slide
by from Indianapolis, IN on

Ive just received my Walther PDP and Im very satisfied with this purchase. Ive been hearing rumbling about the slide being 1.0 instead of 2.0 1st Gen vs 2nd Gen. This is the one with the Gen 2 2.0 slide, but I guess everyone else who ordered this firearm got the 1.0, but I got the 2.0, so I guess it was they ran out of the 1.0s and I was shipping a 2.0. Other notes, I love it so far and cant wait to get to the range and have a blast

(4 out of 5) Great gun, but there was a minor issue
by from FORT MYERS, FL on

I love the gun. It shoots great. I cant wait to put a red dot on it..... but Im going to have to wait. 1 The gun came with an Ameriglo red dot. What it didnt come with was an adapter plate that I need to mount the red dot. 2 This is the big one and why I gave this a 4. These are V1 guns, not the current V2 guns. That means finding the adapter plates is already more difficult and not going to get easier. I wish they had disclosed this. Again, the gun shoots great. Very accurate. Great trigger. Just the whole red dot matter is kind of a mess.

(5 out of 5) Great Deal
by from muskegon, MI on

The gun is awesome and the deal makes it even better.

(5 out of 5) Walther does it again
by from Fayetteville, AR on

The PDP is by far one of the single best off the shelf pistols you can get. This is my second one and have yet to have any complaints.

(5 out of 5) High Quality Firearm
by from Weston, FL on

Pros: Light, very accurate, very comfortable, really great trigger, great workmanship. Cons: too bulky and wide but lighter than its competitors. Felt recoil is about right for its size or a bit more

(5 out of 5) Excellent firearm and service!
by from Rock Island, IL on

Can’t beat what you get for the money. Everything was better than expected.

(5 out of 5) Best - $500 pistol out there.
by from Sterling, AK on

First off, I'd like to compliment SOSS for their communication and prompt shipping. I live in rural Alaska and oftentimes online gun retailers (rhymes with suds) put us on the backburner because shipping here requires more user input. So kudos to SOSS. I also want to re-assure that this firearms slide is much darker than pictured. It is more battleship grey than what you're looking at. I expected this, and was glad that it arrived looking much better than the photo.

The ergos on the PDP are outstanding, which contributes to how effectively you can use this magnificent trigger. It's easily the best non-customized striker fired trigger you can buy, it is actually on par with some custom jobs. I shoot a lot of 1911 DW, Colt, Kimber and I prefer this one. This trigger is stageable in much the same way a good rifle's or excellent revolver's is. You pull it very smoothly to a distinct wall, then pulling through is highly controllable. Maybe a 4.5lb trigger and a super quick distinct reset. 1911s have great triggers, but this is more controllable, more predictable than any 1911. Again, its like a very good two stage rifle trigger.

(5 out of 5) Greatness

I highly recommend this pistol I haven't had a pistol this good for $500 in 20 years and the pistol arrived in 4 days.
